What this site is
SinkholeOdds reports what share of each US county the USGS karst map shows on soluble or cavity-forming rock. It is information only. It is not a substitute for a geotechnical inspection of a specific property, a licensed engineer's opinion, or the actual wording of your insurance policy.
No warranty on the figures
Every figure traces to the cited USGS and Census data, sampled on a grid of a few hundred points per county. A county share cannot tell you whether a particular lot sits on soluble rock, whether a void exists under it, or whether a sinkhole will form. Nothing here should be the only basis for a purchase, insurance or construction decision.
No engineering, legal or insurance advice
Nothing on this site is engineering, legal or insurance advice. The site does not inspect, certify or guarantee any building or parcel, and it does not know the terms of your policy. Decisions about inspection, repair or coverage should rest on an assessment by a licensed professional and a reading of your own policy.
